Summer Learning Journey-R.E.S.P.E.C.T (Step it up)

In Samoa there are a lot of ways that show respect. But these 3 are probably the ones I remember the most. Every country has unique ways of showing respect, but no matter where you are always show respect to everyone and anyone.

How do you show Respect in your culture?

  1. Malo e lelei Madelyn,

This activity is so awesome as it gives everyone an opportunity to reflect on how we show respect and how respect looks different to different people and different cultures. It is cool to see you writing about how you show respect in the Samoan culture, are you and/or your family from Samoa?

It is interesting to see the similarities and differences between different cultures, usually the basics of respect are all similar with a few differences such as showing skin. Do you know why showing less skin is a sign of respect?

If you had to compare respect between Samoan and Maori culture what do you think some of the big differences will be?

It is great to see you participating in the summer learning journey again this year and I look forward to seeing more of your awesome posts, keep up the great work!

I really love this Summer Learning Journey activity because it gives me an opportunity to learn about everyone else’s culture and how they show respect. Yes, my family is from Samoa but I don’t really know how to speak Samoan, I just know some words.

The reason why Samoans show less skin is the same reason why other people show less skin. Because its rude. And I don’t think there would be any big differences between Samoa culture and Maori culture.

Thank you for commenting on my work, I appreciate it. Have a wonderful holiday!
      Madelyn
