SLJ-Beach Mandala: Step It Up

For the Step it Up version we had 2 choices. Do it on paper or do it on a rock. I chose to do it on paper since its easier for me and its a bit too late for me to go outside in the middle of the dark. My Mandala is based on a flower, the background was added just for fun. Did you know that the word “Mandala” means circle in Sanskrit? Another fun fact is that Mandala drawing is considered a form of meditation. And one more fact, there are three types of Mandalas, Teaching Mandala, Healing Mandala and Sand Mandala. Which type of Mandala do you prefer?

  1. Kia ora Madelyn, Mrs Tofa here from the Manaiakalani team. This is a really educational and creative blog post. I did not know those facts about what a mandala is and the language it originates from. I will look up what a sand, healing and teaching mandala look like.

I can see in your mandala you have given a lot of thought into the colour, layout and patterns. Is there a special meaning to your mandala?

Keep up the great work with your Summer Learning Activities. Looking forward to reading more blog posts from you.

    1. Talofa Lava Mrs Tofa,

Thank you for commenting on my work, I really appreciate it. I’m glad I was able to give you interesting information about Mandala’s. And to answer your question, I don’t think my Mandala has a special meaning. But if there was a hidden message behind it then I’d think it would be “All negativity is spread, but a light remains”. Do you agree?

      Have a good day today!
      Madelyn
