For todays SLJ activity, I returned to “Polypad” to create my own sea creature species! Although I was aiming for an unique jellyfish, it was hard to make the head look roundish so I decided to make it like a shellback crab but its on its head. I call it the “Trihead Crab” due to its shell on its head being shaped like a triangle. Although its eyes are small, its 4 legs are the size of 2 index fingers combined.
One fact about my creature is the end of its tentacles is very sharp, sharp like a knife! Onto the second fact, it doesn’t use its knife tips for hunting, it uses it to carve nearby rocks to attract females. Like a Japanese Puffer Fish! Would you keep this crab as a pet?

It’s Charlotte again, a Summer Learning Journey Blog Commenter. Awesome work completing the Sea Safari activity. How did you find this activity?
Wow, the facts that you included about the trihead crab were very interesting. I like how you were able to relate the facts about your crab to the facts you learnt about the Japanese Puffer Fish. This shows you’re learning! What was the most interesting fact you have learnt through the Summer Learning Journey so far this year?
In answer to your question: I don’t think I would want to keep the Trihead Crab as a pet. The knife sharp tentacles seem a bit scary! I am happy sticking to dogs as pets! Would you keep the Trihead Crab as a pet? Why/Why not?

Thank you for commenting on my work, I really appreciate it. And to answer your question, I found this activity between easy and difficult so maybe an average. The most interesting fact I’ve learnt throughout my journey with SLJ is probably the beluga whale fact where they can immitate human speech.
And no I too wouldn’t keep the Trihead Crab, and the same reason as yours but the fact that taking care of it might and buying its suitable objects/food might be expensive. Especially nowadays.
But have a fantastic holiday today!

Kia ora Madelyn,
It’s Charlotte again, a Summer Learning Journey Blog Commenter. Thank you for your response! Isn’t it interesting that a Beluga Whale can imitate Human language, I wonder how smart they are and what they understand from and tone and words?
Your reason for not wanting to keep the trihead crab as a pet made me laugh! Do you have any other pets? Do you want any?
