SLJ-Masks of Te Moana: Step It Up

For the step it up version I had to create a digital swimming mask. As you can see, I made 2! The one with the seahorse design is inspired by the goggles I used to have as a kid. As for the one with the octopus design, its inspired by the goggles my brother used to have. Did you know, that an octopuses arms have a mind of their own? We both lost our goggles, but thats because we’ve grown out of them. Sometimes, if we found our old goggles we wouldn’t even use them for their actual purpose! We would just watch them sink to the ground and see who can reach the goggles first.

What would you do for fun as a kid when you were at the swimming pools?

  1. Kia Ora Madelyn, I really like the way you created your goggles as well as the shimmering water in the background. BREATHTAKING!! You are making GREAT progress!

Thank you so much for the compliments and the positivty that comes with it. The background was inspired by the walls you would not normally but sometimes see at a swimming pool.

      Have an amazing day today!

  2. Talofa Lava Madelyn, I’m Folose from Panmure Bridge School and I have to say, your mask looks AMAZING!

I really like the way you added detail to both of your goggles, it really brings it all together. I can tell you took the time and dedication into making this. I never knew that Octopus arms have a mind of their own? Do you know any other sea creatures like that? Once again, your mask is AWESOME!

Have a great day and keep up the great work,

Thank you for commenting on my work, I really appreciate it. And thank you for the compliments! And to answer your question, I dont have any other sea creatures with limbs that thinks by itself in mind. But it would be nice to know if there were others.

Thank you and have a wonderful day today!

  3. Kia ora Madelyn,

It is so awesome to see yet another amazing creation from you! It’s such a joy to visit your blog.

I loved the reflection you wrote about goggles in your task description. I could really relate to it because that is what my sisters and I would do at swimming pools too. It’s so much fun to dive under water to hunt for objects. Do you still get to the pools much?

Your fishy goggles are so cool. I really love the eyes that you included, they really bring the goggles ‘to life’. The fin/ eyebrow/lashes on the blue one was such a cool touch.

    Keep up the great work.

P.S. We’ve been a bit busy at the SLJ team (we are teachers who are just finishing in our own classrooms for the year) but our team will be back to make sure every one of your posts gets a full comment (and points).
