Summer Learning Journey-Winter Holiday 101

For this Summer Learning Journey. I had to think where I would love to go for a Winter Holiday! And I chose a Winter Cabin. I would love to live in a Cabin because I would like to feel what its like to live in a very beautiful house made of logs. I would also love to see how it looks from the inside. Finding the location and the activities were easy, as for the equipment. I thought about it. Once I was done, I had to write why I would love to visit a Cabin. Most of the reasons are there.

Although the Summer is pretty nice, I prefer Winter more. It’s where I can feel the breeze of the air. I love the cold, but not too much. I also love Winter because its where the annoying bugs like flies or probably mosquitoes. If you don’t like Winter then thats fine with me, its your opinion after all. Why do you love or hate Winter?

Summer Learning Journey-Poem for my Aunty

To celebrate the beginning of 2024, I decided to make this poem for someone special who can’t be here. My aunty, who sadly passed away. I miss her so much so I made her a poem. I tried making a poem that didn’t need to rhyme, but then I just added rhymes later on. As for the picture. I wanted to make a beautiful picture with birds flying above. But I just thought to myself, I’ll just do a Summer picture. And so I did.

In fact, if the place in the picture was real. I would love to go there! It would be a really nice and beautiful view and to have a good swim. I would definitely take my family with me. I love this Summer Learning Journey, I couldn’t really post anything because I was gone somewhere. But luckily i’m here now. If you were to write a poem to someone who would it be?

Summer Learning Journey- Poem Postcards

I love poems. I love poems that have meanings in them, or “didactic poetry”. But I’ve never heard of “Limerick” poetry. But once I found out what it was, it might be my favourite now. If you don’t know, Limerick poetry is where a poem that has five sentences but has a hilarious story. If I were to share this postcard with someone, I would definetely share it with my friends Estherose, Willietony or Jamie. They make me laugh everytime whenever I’m around them.

I chose Limerick poetry for my project because Its my favourite! But as for the winter snow picture. I chose that picture because I love winter! But in New Zealand it doesn’t really snow when its Winter. Once I grow up, I’d love to travel to countries where their is snow. The only experience I’ve had with snow was at Snow Mountain, it was very fun! I really enjoyed this Summer Learning Journey activity, this reminds me of the times where my class would do poems maybe once a week. Do you love writing poems?

Summer Learning Journey-Irregular Tessellation

For the “Step it up” version of the Tessellation activity I decided to make 2 of them. I tried making one irregular and the other semi-regular but I think both are semi-regular Tessellation. Making the blue and green one was easy, as for the purple and orange one it took me a bit of time. But then I got it done and it turned out to be pretty good. I like the purple and orange one the most, it looks like a 3D spiky line crawling down. What do you prefer? 2D or 3D?

If you don’t know the difference between irregular and semi-regular then I’ll gladly explain it to you. Semi-regular Tessellations are made from regular polygon shapes, then are combined and creates a pattern. As for the Irregular Tessellation, they are made from figures that aren’t polygon shapes or not even made from any shape at all. The figure can be animals or funky looking shapes that are soon connected and turned into a pattern.

Summer Learning Journey-Tessellations

For this Summer Learning Journey activity I just added random Polygon shapes together, but then I found out that I was doing the wrong thing and restarted. Some of you might notice that I changed it. I chose hexagons because they remind me of those beehive patterns and although I’m afraid of bees and every bug, I still admire them. I still remember the tine where I first got stung by a bee when I was at school, I can’t remember the pain though. Where was your first bee sting? Or your first painful moment?

What I love about this activity is that I learnt meanings of new words that might be useful when I go back to school. But the one word that I love is “Regular Tessellations”. Regular Tessellations is a pattern that includes regular Polygon shapes. Each of the Polygon’s sides are connected and make no gaps. Therefore creating a unique pattern.  And if you don’t know what Regular Polygons are, their shapes that have the same length and the same measurement.

Summer Learning Journey-Shadow Art

The day this Summer Learning Journey activity was released I couldn’t do it outside because it was raining. But the days after, I was finally able to complete it. I thought I should try and find a plant with a butterfly, but I just chose any plant near me. It was kind of hard to trace the shadow of the plant because the wind kept pushing the leaves but I eventually got it. I also traced another plant nearby to make it look less spacious.

I colored the blue plant shadow blue because I thought it would make the picture a bit brighter. But to be honest, I’m not liking the color I chose. I think if I colored both black then it would be pretty cool. It didn’t take me a while to do this but I loved this activity. It reminds me of the time when my sister and I would grab a flashlight, turn off all the lights, and play shadow puppets. I was only able to make a “dog” shadow. I have seen those videos where those people are able to make Gangnam Style.

Have you ever seen people do unique shadows?

Summer Learning Journey- The sound of pure Ballet

Making my own music was pretty hard, but I finally got it! At first I started making a random mess and it didn’t really sound good. But then I took my time and just went with it, carefully. I then ended up with a some-what better version of my old one. I really love this version because it reminds me of the music they have at Ballet shows. I remember my entire school went to a Ballet show, it was very awesome and enjoyable. Their dances was beautiful and the actors themselves were beautiful too! My teacher told me that Ballet is the most fittest sport. I was very surprised, im pretty sure everyone in my class was suprised. Do you admire or love to watch Ballet?

“Ode to Joy” may seem like a ordinary old school song, but it has precious memories. On the day of Beethovens performance, the crowd loved it! But Beethoven kept conducting but eventually one of the people apart of this project stopped him and turned him around to the crowd. Although the crowd were cheering, they knew that Beethoven couldn’t hear quite well. So they threw their hats into the air to show how much they loved him.

Summer Learning Journey-Vibrant Viola

I love Summer Learning Journey activites where online music and digital art is involved. When I was young I wanted to be able to play the piano or the violin. But now I want to play an electric guitar or even play the drums. The “Viola the Bird” activity is very awesome. It was pretty easy for me and it reminds me of a game called “Friday Night Funkin” or FNF, it was a really popular rythym game in 2021 I think. But I enjoyed playing it, especially the different types of mods. Do you have a favourite rythym game?

Here are some facts about Beethoven, the guy that wrote “Ode to Joy”. Beethoven’s last words before he died was “Pity,Pity! Too late!”. The day he died was also the day he lost his hearing. His father refreshed him, meaning Beethoven felt more energy and younger. His father was also an alcoholic, which made his life even harder. He wasn’t married to anyone, but he seemed to be very romantic.

Summer Learning Journey-Ping Pong battle

For todays Summer Learning Journey activity, there were some difficulties. The 1st problem was how I should have my obstacle course. 2nd problem was how I was going to record and the 3rd problem was having to show my face. I don’t really like showing myself in projects or school work but I try and get it done with. All of my problems were solved, with the help of my Mom.

Although it seemed easy, I failed 6 or 7 times but I finally got it. One of the attempts, the ball hit my head! It was pretty funny. This activity was very enjoyable, it also makes me question how long do youtubers set up their crazy trick shot challenges. How long do you think it takes to make a crazy challenge?

Summer Learning Journey-Colour Block Landscape

This SLJ activity is definetely one of my favourites. I chose this picture because the background looked very beautiful and stunning. It reminds me of my cute bunny doll I have. What is your favourite doll? As the video said, I made the cliff and the couple really big to make it look like its close to me. The rest was easy for me, but the sun and trees took me a while to think.

Im proud of my complete project, but I’m thinking the trees and sun are a bit strange. I  added a pattern to the sun to make it stand out more, but I think I should’ve added a reflection too.
