Summer Learning Journey-Laser Maze

For this Summer Learning Journey Activity, I had to nake a copy of a google template and create my own laser maze. I made my laser maze designed like my actual frontyard. I don’t think a real laser maze can be held in my frontyard though. But if I was able to set up a laser maze then I think I would be able to finish this maze in under 5 minutes. Not to be biest or anything, its just I’m the one that does sports and outside play more.

I have never seen Mission Impossible before. But I have seen a movie that was probably inspired from it. It’s called “Ocean’s 11” I think its about a guy that wants to get his girlfriend back. But the girlfriend is dating a super wealthy man, and the protagonist and his gang tries to steal his money. I really loved that movie. If you were to make a laser maze, where would you set it up?

Summer Learning Journey-Rainbow Fish (Step it Up)

I couldn’t do the “Kick Start” version of this Summer Learning Journey activity so I decided to do the Step it Up version. Making the fish was easy, but as for the rainbow scales it took me a while. While doing the rainbow scales, I tried making each colour slightly change to fit in with the next colour. After completeing the fish I made a simple pink Jellyfish.

When I was 5 years old I remember my teacher reading this book to me. I was pretty scared of how the fish was drawn, but I really loved the story. My favourite colour of the rainbow is green, it reminds me of the beautiful nature God has gifted us. Which colour of the rainbow is your favourite colour?

Summer Learning Journey-Anemone isn’t the Enemy (Step it Up)

For this Summer Learning Journey activity I had to create a sea anemone. A sea anemone may look like a plant but its actually a marine animal.

Did you know that sea anemones are actually carnivores? Most sea anemones have a special ability, where they can zap whoever touches them with their tentacles.  There was one sea anemone that was about 550 million years old!

Before I didn’t know what a sea anemone was but after I searched it up I recognised the design. I think its included in the movie “Finding Nemo” and “Finding Dory”. My favourite part of the movie is Finding Dory. What I loved is the fact that we get to see Dory’s backstory and childhood. We also get introduced by new characters as well, my favourite character is destiny. Who’s your favourite character in Finding Dory?

Summer Learning Journey-Notan Art (Step it Up)

For the Step it Up version, I had to make a theme or a scene. As in maybe friends in the park, or fishes swimming but for my theme I did “wildlife”. For the shapes I used, I just used the curve tool to trace most of the animals. As for the sun, I created it on my own without any tracing. My favourite animal that you can tame are cats.

I love how cute and scary they are, sometimes their very random and just run around. But others like mine just sleep, eat and sleep. If your favourite pet animal is a cat, what do you love about them? While creating this I tried making a “cat” theme. But instead I decided to go for all animals. Fun fact! The camel looking animal was originally supposed to be a bird flying. But it didn’t look right so it became a weird looking camel.

Summer Learning Journey-Notan Art

For todays Summer Learning Journey activity, I learnt something new and interesting! Notan Art. Notan Art is a Japanese kind of art, the word “Notan” means dark-light which might make sense once I tell you what Notan Art is. Notan Art is where a black figure or shape has a shadow but white, and it creates a beautiful art piece. But what makes Notan Art so special? Well, it is said to be special because its method helps artists to show beauty and harmony in their painting.

You can get really creative, like I did for my version of Notan Art. Making the black shapes were easy, but when I had to create the white ones it took me a while but I eventually got it. My favourite one is the one with the sun. It reminds my of Tangled the movie, but it also reminds me of Summer. I love how one simple shape or one of anything can make you think about your childhood. Do you come across items where it makes you feel nostalgic?

Summer Learning Journey-My Emoji Cipher (Step it up)

For the Step it Up version, I had to Decipher 2 more codes. By using 2 different Cipher ways. Using my basic maths skills it was easy, same as the “Grid Code”. Making my own cipher using emojies was not really easy. I tried making it hard for the viewer to solve, but instead I made some of them simple because it wouldn’t show the image. If you would like to have a go on completing my code, then you can! Its on the last slide. If there is any problems or any issues that you’ve come across then tell me. Also tell me what your answer is once you complete it.

This is basically a hint but the reason why I chose my favourite SLJ activity as my favourite is I really like how I had to draw an item and include language that everyone uses when texting. If you completed my code, you will get which SLJ activity im talking about. I really love deciphering these codes, it makes me feel like a detective in an action movie. My favourite murder mystery movie is “Glass Onion: A knives out mystery” which you can watch on Netflix. Warning! That movie does has some not really good scenes for young children.

Whats your favourite Murder Mystery movie?

Summer Learning Journey- Cipher and Codes

For this SLJ activity, we had to decipher the codes that were on the slide. I understood Atabash very quickly so I completed the first code quick. But it did make me a little bit confused. As in redoing it over and over again just to see if its correct. But as for the Pig Pen, it made me very confused but I eventually got it. I do not really know if I got it correct, but if I did then I am very proud

For the last slide I had to create my own code using Atabash or Pig Pen. As you can see, I ended up using Atabash. When creating my codes I had a lot of things I love to do when its Summer. HINT: I chose the events I or other people usually do when its the holidays. This SLJ activity reminds me of the “Rebuz Puzzle” activity I completed. Both SLJ activities were very fun. Out of every Cipher, what is your favourite one?

Summer Learning Journey- Summer Chat with…Emojies!

The story that I “created” was actually based on a true event that happened. My family, friends and I went to Dunkirk to have a picnic and hangout. I really enjoyed it, I also enjoyed the food that was there. I was really thankful for the weather and my friends showing up. When did you have your last picnic? As for the emojies, I think I did a good job. I also made it seem like 2 people were actually texting each other. So if you see “@” that means “at” and if you see “btw” then that means “by the way”.

Summer Learning Journey-Silhouette Art

For my Silhouette art, I chose one of my favourite pictures I’ve kept. The real photo doesn’t include me, but it includes the special people that I love. As for the background, I wanted it to be set in a beautiful park with the sunset shining in the back. But then I wanted something different, so I just decided to put a background with ice mountains and a beautiful sky. Another reason why I chose ice mountains as the background is because I love how the mountains are shaped.

If you were to create a Silhouette, why would you choose that background? This reminds me of those videos on social media. Where you have to guess who was the person by their Silhouettes. They would probably screenshot scenes where they were seen and just used it. I always fail to find the person, but its really fun.

Summer Learning Journey-Summer Holiday 101

For the “Step it up” version. I had to do the same thing, but imagine it was in the Summer. I would really love to visit Brazil. Figuring out the equipment, the place and the activities were really easy. If you don’t know why I have a picture of the “Christ the Redeemer” statue, its because I would really like to visit it someday. And for this year, I’m trying to have a better relationship with God. Hopefully I will succeed.

Although I prefer Winter over Summer. I really love the things you can do in the Summer time. You can dig your feet in the soft sand. You can play with your family in the sea. And especially getting fish and chips later on. But my favourite part of Summer, is hanging out with my friends and families at the pools. What do you and your family do during swimming?
